In a show of solidarity and cooperation, the leadership of the Assemblies of God, Eastern Region, paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, at her office in Koforidua on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
The delegation, led by the Eastern Region ‘A’ Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Rev. Dr. Albert Anane, comprised executive committee members, officers, and regional directors. Also in attendance was the Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God Eastern Region “B”, Rev. Obed Anderson Asiedu, along with other pastors.
Rev. Dr. Anane extended warm greetings to Honorable Awatey on behalf of the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, and congratulated the minister on her appointment. He highlighted the socioeconomic and spiritual contributions of Assemblies of God Ghana in national development and expressed the church’s excitement at witnessing H.E. John Mahama, a member of the church, as the President of the State.
According to Rev. Dr. Anane, the visit was aimed at fostering a harmonious relationship between the church and the government while also appreciating Honorable Awatey’s tireless efforts in promoting the development of the Eastern Region. He also briefed her on the transformational agenda of Assemblies of God Ghana.
Honorable Awatey, in response, expressed her excitement and gratitude towards the delegation, stating that Assemblies of God, Eastern Region, was the first church to pay her a courtesy call since her appointment in January. She thanked Rev. Dr. Anane and his team for the honor, praised the pastors for their respect, and pledged her commitment to partnering with the church for the development of the region.
Led by Rev. Dr. Anane and Rev. Obed Asiedu, the delegation prayed for the regional minister, asking for divine protection, guidance, and wisdom in her role. As a token of appreciation, Honorable Awatey was presented with an Assemblies of God Adult Sunday School manual and a 2025 calendar.
This visit highlights the Assemblies of God’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with government officials and promoting regional development. It is expected to strengthen ties between the church and the regional minister’s office, leading to greater collaboration for the well-being of the Eastern Region.
Rev. Dr. Anane reiterated the church’s willingness to support the regional minister’s office in its development initiatives, stating, “We are committed to working with the government to improve the lives of our people.”
